Blog Post #6

For this week's assignment, I will admit that I was quite intimidated. I have never really attempted to make a movie and I was unsure how to even start. However, after watching several samples of students in the class, I gathered more and more ideas. As you can tell, I decided to make a video about my trip this summer to Disney with my mom. It was a lot of fun to pick the pictures and then try to choose a song to match it, but I feel like I still have a long way to go before I am nominated for an Oscar! I used Windows Movie Maker and the program was pretty easy to use.

For my story board, I was going to draw a sketch, but I wasn't sure how effectively I could get that hand drawn sketch on to my computer. Instead, I used my favorite program - Word. I tried to include some visuals with my story board, as well as a screen cast of me talking about my ideas for an actual screen cast that I would like to eventually create for my colleagues in an attempt to get them more familiar with multimodal tools in the classroom so they can ultimately try out these tools with their students.

To start, I like how your 60 second video included a lot of pictures of various size and shape. Instead of going "full screen" on all of the images, the black background looked nice. Oh, and all of the pictures form the bakery definitely made me hungry..

As far as the storyboard, I think that using word was a good idea. It looked neat, and the lines you set up to go across the pages made it very clear where one board ended and another began. I hope that when other teachers in your school see how easy it is to use some of those tools, as well as the fact that their students are already able to use them easily, that they are inspired to try them on their own.
